Even at the expense of ultimate performance? It's just that A4s and 328is are the Civic and Corolla of Northern Viriginia. A manual C300 is such a unicorn anywhere. Part of me really wants one for no other reason than the rare and different factor.

Nope, not stupid. I think that's the main appeal of a turbo-diesel rotary Miata shooting brake with a dogleg 5-speed.

Well, some cars are not bought simply because they suck. I'm pretty sure that's not the case with the C class though.

The only 328i I want is actually a 228i.
Get the manual C. Its pretty unique.

Welcome back to the fold friend. Haven't seen much from you lately.

Being different is never stupid. I am a Saab guy though so take my advice with a shaker of salt.

I always kind of wanted one for the same reason. It's always Audi and BMW 'round these parts.

Dogleg non-synchro 5-speed with rear wheel steering and hydropnuematic suspension, right?

But of course.

Oh! That reminds me to install my aftermarket Grey Poupon holder too.
It's a shame they don't make cars for people like us anymore, and we have to go to the aftermarket to get these things.

I feel the same way about trying to find a bicycle. Specialized and Trek make the best bikes in my price range. But I don't want a Specialized or a Trek because everyone that rides a decent bike rides a Specialized or a Trek. So I really want to get a Bianchi or a ridley, though since there are no dealers around me I can't really decide which one yet.

No manual. Otherwise I'd be all over it!

Completely valid.

I've driven several C300 4MATICs at work, and it's fun even with Sport mode and the tiptronic. In a manual it would obviously be even better.
Funny, its pretty much the other way around up here: I see more of the latest C-Series on Toronto roads than I do the 3-series or Audi's.

Just don't expect it to be a drift car and you'll probably enjoy it. It has the classic non-defeatable TC system but it is also a rock solid sedan with no real frills besides build quality and a mercedes 3.0L V6.

That switches from sounding like a 787B to a Lambo V12 to a British I6.

I try my damnedest to be different. That's part of why I bought a Koup instead of a Camaro.
So no, it's not stupid at all because I'm not stupid. DONT YOU DARE CALL ME STUPID!
![]() 10/28/2013 at 01:04 |

But a Koup really isn't too different. It isn't going to make people stop and ask questions and take pictures.

Its just a fuse pull away from being a drift car. Well maybe not a drift car, but close.

One of the cars I drive is a 2008 MB C300 Luxury 4M with the 7 Speed Auto and even in that form, the car is excellent.

Maybe not pictures, but it's pretty different, or at least was when I bought it. I saw less than 5 Koups when I had mine, even though there were surely more out there, and had many occasions where people asked me what it was. A Ford salesperson once thought it was an Acura!

Yes but without ABS on a nearly 4000 lb compact sedan and no LSD, I'd be wary of using it for shenanigans. Although an aftermarket LSD is about a grand. I priced mine out, with mods, at about 26k for ~250 to 300hp (MB under rates engines), LSD, bigger front brakes, and a better suspension. ALl before labor though, but it seems pretty straight forward enough to do on my own with a manual.

I mean shenanigans is what RWD was meant for .... If you never balance the car on power than why even bother IMO?
Also just for the sake of bringing up old pics, last car = 3750lbs, 250hp, and no lsd, and she slid just fine.

difference being your car cost a grand or two and this is in the low 20k range and parts will cost an arm and a leg. Plus if I remember, isn't there a picture of your car after you smacked a curb and de-spoked the wheel? :P

Haha, damn!! .... but to be fair, I drifted A LOT and learned my lesson the hard way. The circumstances were freshman/sophomore in college, in detroit aka no police, and with a RWD V8 JDM car.
Yea I was out in the streets, at least once a week pretending I was DK.
I still hoon though, just smarter about it.
*sniffle*
